Residential Drainage Solutions

A wet basement, a yard that never dries out, or water pooling against your foundation isn't something that fixes itself — and left alone, it gets worse. We diagnose what's actually causing the water problem on your property and install a solution built to handle it, not just move it a few feet away.

Residential Drainage Services We Offer

Perforated pipe systems installed around a foundation or across a yard or field to intercept groundwater before it saturates the soil near your home. This is one of the most common fixes we install on Central Wisconsin's clay-heavy ground, which holds water far longer than sandier soil.

A gravel-and-pipe trench system that redirects water away from a specific low spot — next to a house, along a walkway, in a persistently soggy corner of the yard — instead of letting it sit and saturate the ground.

Running sump pump discharge lines away from the foundation and underground instead of leaving them exposed above grade, where they can refreeze or dump water right back toward the house.

Correcting negative slope around a foundation or low spots in a yard so surface water sheds away from the house instead of pooling against it — often the first, simplest fix worth ruling out before more invasive drainage work.

Excavating and shaping recreational or farm ponds for residential properties, sized and sited to the property's drainage patterns.

Common Questions About Residential Drainage

  • How do I know if I need drain tile or just a regrade?

If water is pooling on the surface and your yard slopes toward the house, a regrade may be enough. If water is coming up from below — a wet basement with no obvious surface source — drain tile is usually the fix. We diagnose this on-site rather than guessing.

  • How much does residential drain tile installation cost?

It depends heavily on the length of run, depth, soil conditions, and whether it ties into an existing sump system — costs vary too much across properties to quote without a site visit.

  • Will installing drain tile disturb my landscaping?

Some disturbance along the trench line is unavoidable, but we backfill and restore the area as close to its original condition as possible.

  • How long does drain tile installation take?

A typical residential job takes 1-3 days depending on the length of the system and soil conditions.

  • Can you fix a wet basement without excavating around the whole foundation?

Sometimes — interior solutions exist for some situations, but exterior drain tile is usually more effective long-term for groundwater issues. We'll recommend based on what we find during the assessment, not a one-size answer.

  • Do I need a permit for residential drainage work?

Most standard residential drainage work doesn't require a permit, but projects near a wetland or waterway may. We'll flag it if your property is in that situation.
